the equipoise fund board

Director, Founder and President
Blessings come in all shapes and sizes (check out the blessing next to me in this photo!), and I’m convinced that they enter our lives each day. It seems to me, though, that we are prone to experience lives that don’t provide us with the space or grace or balance—the equipoise—needed to be still enough to be aware of these blessings all around us.
When I first imagined The Equipoise Fund, I had hoped to find a way toward balance/grace/blessing through the world of philanthropy, especially with a lens upon the worlds of women and girls in Wyoming. In nearly 10 years, I have been amazed: lots of learning opportunities; lots of doors opening and new passages formed; lots of hugs (those are the best!); and, of course, lots of space to simply “noodle” and wander and wonder and find balance.
I am so happy to have my dearest Memphis friends, Jean and Lee, with me on this journey. They have been a true balance for me as I’ve forged a new life in Wyoming, and I am forever grateful to them. The love and support of my wonderful stepchildren, Brian and Jennifer (and their sweet partners and families) is a constant reminder of what’s important. Of course, Zeke, my Golden retriever, and Cy, my yellow lab, demand a balanced life: eat, sleep, play, love. What more is there?!? I am thrilled with friendships, spirit daughters and sons, and the opportunities in my life.
So I’m taking this time to be aware, to be grateful for my part in this life puzzle, and to be able to create my own pieces as we energize, enrich and encourage the vision, voice and visibility of the women and girls of Wyoming.
Onward!!

May this be a good year! Let’s toast to creativity and the coming together of great minds and hearts in the spirit of moving onward and upward.
I’ve come to realize that one of the good things about getting older is that you learn to appreciate some of life’s basic lessons. They are very simple, really, like, can you remember what you worried about a year ago today? Or, would you rather be right or be happy? My favorite bit of wisdom at the moment is that we were all put on this earth so that we can learn from and help each other.
This is at the heart of what Equipoise strives to do, and I am continually amazed at all of the great projects, and accomplishments by the women in Wyoming. I am especially happy for the role that Equipoise has played in support of some of these programs.
Mickey Babcock’s vision and exemplary leadership is an inspiration to all, and Tennessee’s loss is Wyoming’s gain!
I’m a life-long Memphian. I graduated from Rhodes College and worked for almost 20 years for a distributor and converter of wall coverings. Most of my time was spent in marketing, working with wall covering designers in planning the color and design of future lines. I have been married for 25 years to my husband, Joe. Andy and Norine, Joe’s son and daughter-in-law, have two boys, Logan and Mason, who light up my life!

The other joy in my life is working with art development at our regional hospital, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. This 60-year-old hospital recently moved into a new facility, where art plays a prominent role in the healing process. Combining two of my loves, children and art, has given me immeasurable joy!
Rounding out our happy family are two dog “family members.” Lily is a wheat-colored Scottie, and Holly is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Life is good!

How wonderful it is to start another year of embracing Equipoise! I am so amazed at the great things that continue to happen because of dedicated women in Wyoming. I am honored to be supportive of women who care enough to channel their ideas, give of their time and truly focus on making changes in the lives of others.
Positive energy is contagious in any arena. Working with Mickey and feeling her enthusiasm continues to be a magical experience. She is a “one-of-a-kind” sister, and I am so blessed to call her my friend. Joyfully, I thank her for the opportunity to brainstorm in an effort to boost the lives of all women in Wyoming.
